Tagging players
Tagging a clip is what turns "a video from practice" into "Sophia's clean approach on May 8." Once a clip is tagged, you can filter to one athlete and build a reel of just their reps.
Tagging is optional. You can save clips and never tag them — the Library shows everything you've saved regardless. But to build a per-athlete reel, the clips have to be tagged.
Tagging during practice
The fastest workflow during practice:
- Save a clip (tap Save during the playback).
- As soon as you can, tap the Save confirmation popup before it disappears (it stays for about 5 seconds). This opens a quick player picker.
- Tap the athlete's name. Done.
If you missed the popup, you can always tag later from the Library.
Tagging from the Library
Most tagging happens after practice, sitting on the couch:
- Open the Library tab.
- Tap a clip to open it.
- Tap Assign player.
- Pick a name from the roster. Confirm.
You can also tag in batches:
- In the Library, tap Select (top-right).
- Tap multiple clips.
- Tap Assign player in the bottom action bar.
- Pick a name — all selected clips are tagged to that athlete.
One athlete per clip
In Phase 1, a clip is tagged to one athlete at a time. If two athletes are in the same clip (a passer and a setter, for example), pick the one you're reviewing the clip for. The clip will appear in that athlete's reel, not both.
If you need two athletes' reels to include the same clip, save the moment twice — once for each athlete — and tag each save to its athlete.
Notes
Each clip can also have a short text note. Tap the clip, then tap Add note.
Notes are free-form. Suggested patterns:
- A coaching cue:
"hands earlier","high platform","weight forward" - A skill name if you run mixed drills:
"approach","serve receive" - A date or session if not obvious:
"May 8 tournament warmup"
Notes show up under the clip in the Library and appear in search. Keep them short.
Untagging or retagging
To change the athlete a clip is tagged to:
- Open the clip.
- Tap Assign player again.
- Pick the new athlete (or Unassign to clear it).
There's no undo for delete, but retagging is harmless — the clip itself doesn't change.
What if I don't have a roster yet?
You can save clips before adding athletes to the roster. The Library will show them as Unassigned. Once you add athletes in the Team tab, you can come back and tag the older clips.
If you have a quick draft of names (even just first names, even just nicknames), enter them now — you can rename later. The only thing that matters is having a name to tag clips against.
Where to go next
- Building a reel — stitch tagged clips into a per-athlete review video.
- Roster — add or edit athlete names.
