RepRecap documentation
Pick a topic below, or start with What is RepRecap? if it's your first time here. RepRecap runs on both iPad and iPhone; the docs focus on the iPad tripod setup because that is the main practice workflow.
If you're looking for the short version, the Setup and Recording and replay pages cover 90% of what you'll do at a typical practice.

Overview
- What is RepRecap? A plain-language overview of RepRecap — an iOS app for iPad and iPhone that records athletes during practice and plays each rep back on a configurable delay.
- How it works The basic idea behind delayed replay and what's happening on the iOS device between when an athlete performs a rep and when they see it on screen.
- What you need The iPad or iPhone model, tripod, and optional accessories that make RepRecap work well at practice.
Getting started
- First launch What happens the first time you open RepRecap — granting camera permission, picking a team, and getting to the live feed.
- Mounting the iPad on a tripod Where to place the tripod, what height to use, and how to frame the shot for the kinds of drills you run.
- AirPlay to a TV Mirroring the iPad's screen to a TV near the court so athletes can watch playbacks together without crowding the iPad.
- First-practice checklist A short pre-practice run-through to do the first few times you use RepRecap, so the gym isn't where you're troubleshooting.
Using RepRecap
- Recording and replay The core daily loop — starting the camera, setting the right delay, and what's happening on screen during practice.
- Saving clips What the Save button does, how long saved clips are, and how the rolling buffer works.
- Tagging players Connect a saved clip to an athlete on your roster so you can find it later and gather it into a per-athlete reel.
- Building a reel Stitch tagged clips together into a per-athlete review video with a name card at the start, ready to text or AirDrop.
- Sharing and exporting How to get a clip or reel out of RepRecap and into a text message, AirDrop, email, or the cloud service of your choice.
Managing your team and library
- Roster Adding athletes to your team, editing names, and reordering. The roster is what makes per-athlete reels possible.
- Library and search How the in-app Library works — what's in it, how to filter, and how it relates to your Photos library.
- Storage and cleanup How saved clips and reels use space on the iPad, and how to free up room without losing the clips that matter.
Troubleshooting
- Camera permission was denied How to grant RepRecap access to the camera if you tapped 'Don't Allow' the first time the app asked, or if camera access was disabled later.
- AirPlay keeps dropping When the iPad's screen mirroring to the TV cuts out repeatedly during practice — likely causes and fixes.
- The replay looks choppy Why a long session in a warm gym can make the delayed playback skip or stutter, and what to do about it.
- "Storage full" warning What to do when RepRecap or the iPad reports that there's no room left for new clips or reels.
- I exported a clip but can't find it Where exported clips and reels end up on the iPad once you tap 'Save to Photos' from RepRecap.
