First launch
The first time you open RepRecap, the app needs one thing from you: permission to use the camera. Everything else is automatic.
Camera permission
When you tap the RepRecap icon, iOS shows a permission prompt that looks something like:
"RepRecap" Would Like to Access the Camera RepRecap records athletes during practice and plays each rep back on a delay. Video stays on this device.
Tap Allow.
If you tap "Don't Allow" by accident, see Camera permission for how to fix it.
Other prompts you might see
Depending on your iOS version, you may also see:
- Photos access — only asked the first time you try to export a clip or reel. You can decline this and still use the app; you just won't be able to send clips out via Photos.
- Local network access — only asked the first time you try to AirPlay to a TV.
You don't need to address either of these on first launch. They show up later when the feature needs them.
The live feed
After granting camera permission you'll land on the Record tab. You'll see:
- The full camera feed filling most of the screen.
- A delay slider along the bottom, set to 5 seconds by default.
- A record/save button in the bottom-right.
- A small settings gear in the top corner.
The feed is live. The delay slider doesn't do anything until you start recording — see Recording and replay for the next step.
Setting up your team
RepRecap supports one team. Tap the Team tab to add your roster.
Add each athlete by name. You don't need to add jersey numbers or positions — the roster is just used for tagging clips later. You can edit or add to the roster any time.
If you're running practice and haven't set up the roster yet, that's fine. You can still record and save clips, then tag them later from the Library. The roster is required only for building per-athlete reels.
Where to go next
- Mounting the iPad on a tripod — physical setup at the gym.
- Recording and replay — the core daily loop.
